Biography – Susanna Hanson:
Susanna Hanson, CEM, DGCP is a principal system applications engineer with Trane in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She has been a voting member of ASHRAE 90.1 since 2004 and was the author or co-author of ten change proposals in the 2007-2013 code cycles in the areas of ventilation controls, dampers, economizers, and chillers. She is a member of the joint task force on Advanced Energy Code development through ASHRAE and treasurer of Region VI.
She has been with Trane for over 19 years and specializes in chilled-water-system design and energy analysis.
She holds a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the University of Florida, where she focused on energy management, industrial energy auditing and hospital operation analysis. She certified in energy management in 2003.
She has given over 100 presentations around the country on ASHRAE 90.1 and over 150 presentations on chilled-water plants, ice-storage systems, above-code programs, and distributed generation. She has been published in Building Operating Manager, HPAC, District Energy, Process Cooling, Cooling India, District Cooling Dubai, and the Encyclopedia of Energy Engineering.

This presentation provides an update on ASHRAE/IES Standards 90.1-2013 and 2016, with focus on the significant mechanical changes. Highlights include: DOAS efficiency, coil selection requirements, DDC requirements, and upgrades on like-for-like replacement equipment.
