EFD and SSES group researchers begin studying distributed generation in urban environments

Environmental Fluid Dynamics researchers, led by Drs. Eric Pardyjak and Rob Stoll, along with Dr. Smith, Carlo Bianchi, and Richard Didier from the SSES group, recently started work on a new project to use computer modeling to study the relationships between urban infrastructure, microclimate and building energy demands. This will inform decision making around distributed generation in urban environments and will focus on Salt Lake City as a test case.

Support from the National Science Foundation‘s Environmental Sustainability program makes this work possible. This new grant was also recently featured on the UU Mechanical Engineering blog.
